Before you ask
Every roof is different — the size, pitch, access, choice of slate or tile, and the condition of the timbers underneath all affect the price. That's why we always survey first and give you a clear, fixed written quotation with no hidden costs, completely free of charge.
If repairs are becoming regular, slates are slipping in multiple areas, or the roof is over 40–50 years old, replacement is usually more economical. We carry out a free survey and give you an honest answer either way — if a repair will do, we'll say so.
Most domestic re-roofs take 5–10 working days depending on size, material and weather. We strip and re-felt sections progressively so your home is never left exposed overnight.
The cost depends on the size of the elevations, how much preparation and repair the existing walls need, and the aggregate finish you choose. We assess everything in person and provide a fixed quotation before any work starts — no pressure, no obligation.
Wet dash (traditional harling) mixes the aggregate into the final coat and applies it to the wall in one go, giving a rough, textured finish. Dry dash presses decorative pebble aggregate onto a wet topcoat, giving a more uniform, sparkling finish. Both are extremely durable — we can advise which suits your property and match existing finishes.
Yes. We carry a wide range of aggregate sizes and colours, and we test patches before full application so repairs blend into the original finish as closely as possible. Where roughcast has blown or detached, we strip back and repair the substrate properly so it doesn't fail again.
A properly prepared and applied roughcast finish can last 20 years or more, even in the Scottish climate. The preparation underneath — repairs, basecoat and reinforcement — is what makes the difference, and that's where we never cut corners.
Yes. After a full wall wash, any repairs and an anti-fungicide treatment, our oil-based resin coating bonds beautifully to roughcast and pebbledash, sealing it against the weather while letting the wall breathe.
For most Scottish homes, yes. Coatings are far thicker, breathable, and chemically bond to the masonry — they typically last 15–20 years where paint often needs redone every 3–5, and their hydrophobic finish sheds rain rather than soaking it up.
Every roof replacement carries a written workmanship guarantee, and we only use materials with manufacturer-backed warranties. Roughcasting and coating work is guaranteed too — and we're fully insured for complete peace of mind.
We're based in Falkirk and cover Falkirk, Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Lothian, West Lothian, Perth and beyond. If you're further afield, just ask — for larger roof replacement or roughcasting projects we regularly travel.
Call or WhatsApp us on 07729 177 174, or use the enquiry form on this page. We'll arrange a convenient time to survey the work, then send you a clear written quotation — free and with no obligation.
